San Francisco, CA, April, 2003 - WebFile Server (WFS) and WebFile Client (WFC) are Internet-based file management and access products developed by Xythos Software (www.xythos.com) of San Francisco. The software lets users access, share and manage files from anywhere on or off the network without changing how or where files are stored.
WFS lets users share information related to their job function or project with co-workers and others outside the enterprise. The WebFile Client compliments the server by providing WebDAV functionality and access, even for non-WebDAV-enabled Windows applications. The WebFile Client also offers automatic file synchronization for offline file access.
To help combat growing problems related to email attachments, the latest versions of WFS and WFC include Intellittach technology that eliminates the need for users to remember to upload files to enterprise content repositories in order to collaborate. Email file attachments are replaced with secure links (URLs) to documents available through WFS. This eliminates the proliferation of duplicate files sent via email. The upgraded WebFile Server also offers secure file sharing within popular portal environments from Plumtree, Computer Associates and the Blackboard Community Portal popular for education.
